Super White Army

Below is a proof-of-concept preview showing what we aim to build for Tranmere Rovers, documenting industrial origins, lost terraces, matchday walks, DIY fanzines, unsung backroom figures, and filmed supporter oral histories.
Because broadcast-grade supporter filming and museum-standard memorabilia digitisation carry significant production costs, we cannot film all 22 clubs at once. We are launching Phase 1 with a strictly limited cohort of 4 to 6 Founding Partner Clubs, before expanding to 8 clubs in Phase 2 and the final 8 clubs in Phase 3. All text, quotes, and media below are illustrative proof-of-concept examples showing what we will build for Tranmere.
This interactive prototype demonstrates how we plan to present Tranmere Rovers’s era-by-era history, spotlight figures, and defining milestones. Due to the cost of producing filmed supporter interviews and archival digitisation, we will roll out full Club Chronicles in structured phases, beginning with an initial cohort of Phase 1 partner clubs before expanding across all 22 North West teams. Use the arrows or era tabs below to preview the planned format.

Renamed Tranmere Rovers in 1885, the club became 1921 founder members of Third Division North. Through mass community backing and local industrial roots, the club quickly established itself as a foundational pillar of North West sporting heritage.

On Boxing Day 1935, Robert 'Bunny' Bell scored 9 goals for Tranmere against Oldham Athletic in a 13-4 victory at Prenton Park.
Chris Malkin scored in extra time at Wembley to beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 and propel Tranmere into the second tier.
John Aldridge led Tranmere to the final major cup final at the old Twin Towers, defeating Middlesbrough and Coventry before facing Leicester City.
Tranmere fans chronicled the thrilling Johnny King era in the 1980s and 1990s through witty Wirral fanzines.

Johnny King didn't just manage Tranmere; he forged their spiritual identity, declaring: 'I can't promise success, but I can promise a rocket trip to the moon.'
“Tranmere is about identity. Sitting on the other side of the Mersey, we pride ourselves on punching above our weight. Johnny King gave us our pride, and the Super White Army never dies.”
“Johnny King was a poet. He told us we were going on a rocket trip to the moon, and we believed him. Pat Nevin, John Aldridge, Ian Muir... Prenton Park was electric every Friday night.”
