What we will build for the 2020s: "Lockdown resilience, the defeat of the Super League, and the renaissance of terrace culture." Below is our prototype blueprint showing how this decade’s social narrative, terrace subculture, archival photography, and filmed supporter interviews will be structured as we roll out production across our partner clubs.
The current decade began with the COVID-19 pandemic and matches behind closed doors, proving beyond doubt that football without fans is nothing. In April 2021, furious supporter mobilisation across England killed the breakaway European Super League within 48 hours. Manchester City completed the Treble in 2023, while grassroots community clubs like Altrincham, Tranmere, and Barrow thrive with record local attendances.
Safe standing returned to English grounds for the first time in 30 years. Matchday craft beer, independent food trucks, retro shirt culture, and club podcasts are now integral to the modern matchday ritual.
Five substitutions became permanent. Tactical flexibility with hybrid defenders who step into midfield has become the elite blueprint.
